In a move aimed at defying the directives of the House of Representatives Committee on University Education to put on hold the process of appointing new substantive Vice-Chancellor and Registrar pending conclusion of an investigation hearing into the recent leadership crisis at the University, the acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patricia Manko Lar has convened a meeting of the University Senate to elect members of the Governing Council that will conduct the selection process. In a notice issued by Tanimu Mustapha, Deputy Registrar, Academic, dated 25th June, 2025, the Senate meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 26 June, 2025, which is the same day Professor Lar is scheduled to appear before the House Committee conducting the investigation hearing. Commission will today hold an emergency security meeting in Abuja to take a final decision on the conduct of the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State. There are fears that the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the state may hinder the conduct of the election. Political parties and candidates have reportedly suspended their campaigns owing to the worsening security situation in the state. Director, Voter Education and Publicity, INEC, Victor Ayodele Aluko, told reporters yesterday that the emergency Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security meeting would among others deliberate on the way forward. Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, head of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari and it's APC led administration to reveal the names of Boko Haram sponsors after successfully alledging some law makers of sponsoring igboho and Nnamdi kanu on their self determination struggle to break away from Nigeria.  The Catholic  Bishop described  Nigeria  as a decading country rottening from maladministration of PMB. DSS office burnt in Nnewi, Anambra State Unknown gunmen on Sunday, set ablaze the operational offices of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Nnewi, Anambra State. The gun-wielding men were said to have operated for hours in the industrial town. They also burnt the Nnewi home of Joe Igbokwe, a vocal critic of the Indigenous of People of Biafra (IPOB) Special Adviser to Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. A source who pleaded anonymity, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the gunmen, who stormed the town, operated in four Sport Utility Vehicles. It was further revealed that two persons who tried to make a video recording of the event were gunned down.
